Cable and connection basics

Use a USB cable that supports data — not charge-only. Connect directly to the computer when possible; avoid unpowered hubs during the session. For PowerShot G7 X Mark III and similar compacts, use the camera’s USB mode that exposes PTP/MTP or the mode our instructions specify for your model. EOS bodies may need EOS Utility compatibility mode disabled if it grabs the connection.

Windows 10 and Windows 11

Install any Canon USB driver if Windows prompts. Allow the unlock tool when security software asks. Close EOS Webcam Utility, Lightroom tethering, and other apps that lock the camera. Battery should be above 50% or use AC adapter kits where supported.

macOS 12 and later

Grant USB permissions if macOS requests them. Quit Image Capture and Photos auto-import dialogs that open on connect. On Apple Silicon Macs, use native ARM builds where provided in our instructions. Same battery guidance as Windows — stable power reduces interruption risk.

After USB connect: unlock session

Once connected and recognised, follow the step list we send after compatibility approval. Sessions often complete in under 15 minutes. Then open Menu → Setup → Language and verify Hebrew, English, or your target language appears. If the list is still short, contact support before retrying.

FAQ

Does USB-C work on newer Canon bodies?+

Yes on models with USB-C data ports — use a data-rated cable. Confirm port type for your exact model on its support page or with us.

Can I use a virtual machine?+

We recommend native Windows or Mac installs. VMs add USB passthrough issues — avoid unless we explicitly approve your setup.

Camera not detected — what now?+

Try another cable and port, reboot camera, disable EOS Utility auto-start, and contact us with model and OS version.
