Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most: a camera from Japan without your language, what you can add, and whether it's safe.

Do you help remotely?+

Yes. If you get stuck with USB or any step, we connect by screen-share at no extra cost. You buy credits in the portal first.

Which computers does it work with?+

Windows 10 and 11, and macOS 12 or later.

How long does it take?+

Usually under 15 minutes once your camera is confirmed and your computer is ready. It can vary.

Does it work on every Canon and Sony camera?+

Tell us your camera model — we'll check for free whether we can add your language. Send us the model, firmware version and where you bought it. We reply within 24 hours.

My model isn’t on the list — can you still help?+

Possibly. Send us the exact model, the firmware version and where you bought it, and we'll check for free.

What firmware version do I need?+

It depends on the model. Tell us your current version when you get in touch — you’ll find it in the camera’s setup menu.

Will a firmware update remove the languages?+

On some models, yes: an update can bring back the original language list. Ask us before updating the firmware after setup.

Will this void my warranty?+

Warranty rules depend on the country, the seller and the manufacturer, and many grey-import cameras have no local warranty anyway. We can't promise anything about Canon or Sony warranty — check your warranty terms.

How can I spot a Japan-market camera before buying?+

Ask the seller for a photo of the Language menu and check the warranty card. In a shop, count the languages before you pay. If you already own the camera, use “Is my camera supported?”.

I want to resell my camera — does adding the buyer’s language help?+

Buyers usually want to see their language in the menu, and on supported models we can add it. The price you get still depends on condition and local rules.

Can the menu be in Arabic or another right-to-left language?+

If your model’s list includes it, yes. Arabic is available on every supported model; Hebrew and Persian on some. Check the model page.

Are you affiliated with Canon or Sony?+

No. MenuLang Unlock is an independent service, not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Canon Inc. or Sony Corporation. Canon, EOS, PowerShot, Sony, α and related names are trademarks of their owners.

Is there a download?+

Not yet. For now it works by contact: write to us via the form or chat, and once your camera is confirmed we'll guide you personally.

What is your refund policy?+

This is a digital setup service, so fees are generally non-refundable once instructions or access have been delivered — unless consumer law requires otherwise or we failed to deliver the agreed service. Write to support@menulangunlock.com about your case.

What if it doesn’t work on my camera?+

Tell us your camera model — we'll check for free whether we can add your language. Send us the model, firmware version and where you bought it. We reply within 24 hours.

Where is my data stored when I contact you?+

The contact form is sent through this website. Spam protection uses Cloudflare Turnstile. Details, retention and your rights are in our Privacy Policy.
