Canon camera missing English — JDM & grey-import fix
If your Japan-market or grey-import Canon only shows English and Japanese under Settings → Language, the firmware is region-locked — not broken. International Canon bodies expose 30 menu languages; JDM units hide the rest.

Why JDM Canon cameras hide English (or other languages)
Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Canon cameras are built for Japan and often ship with a two-language menu: English and Japanese. Grey-import and parallel-import sellers resell these bodies worldwide — so buyers in Israel, Germany, the UK, or the US discover the Language list is incomplete. The same happens in reverse: some EU or US region-locked bodies hide Asian languages. This is firmware region coding, not a defective screen or missing translation files.
How to check your Canon Language menu
Open Menu → Setup (wrench icon) → Language on your Canon EOS, PowerShot G, PowerShot SX, or IXUS. Count how many languages appear. If you see only English and Japanese on a G7 X Mark III or SX740 HS from Japan, you have a region-limited list. Note your exact model name, firmware version (also under Setup), and whether the camera was bought as JDM, grey-import, or standard retail — we use this for compatibility checks.
Models we see most often with missing English
PowerShot G7 X Mark III, PowerShot SX740 HS, EOS M50 Mark II, EOS M200, and EOS R6 are frequent JDM and grey-import cases. Compact PowerShot and EOS M lines are popular parallel imports from Japan and Hong Kong. Each model page on MenuLang Unlock lists compatibility steps, pricing ($35 per model), and FAQs — search your exact model before contacting support.
How MenuLang Unlock restores the full language list
After we confirm your model and firmware, you connect the camera via USB on Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+. MenuLang Unlock unlocks the hidden language entries — Hebrew, German, French, Arabic, and 26 more — without replacing hardware. Most sessions finish in under 15 minutes. Contact us with your model and firmware before payment; we confirm compatibility first.
FAQ
Is missing English on a JDM Canon a defect?+
No. Region-limited language menus are intentional firmware behaviour on many Japan-market and grey-import units. The camera functions normally; only the selectable menu languages are restricted.
Can I add Hebrew to a JDM G7 X Mark III?+
On compatible firmware, yes — Hebrew and the full 30-language list can be restored. Send your firmware version and purchase region for a compatibility check before proceeding.
Does a factory reset bring back English?+
Usually not. Reset clears custom settings but does not change regional firmware language tables. A language unlock targets the menu list directly.
