Adding Hebrew to your camera menu
Lots of photographers in Israel buy their camera in Japan or as a grey import, then find no Hebrew under Language. On many Canon and Sony models we can add it. It isn’t a file you download or copy onto the SD card — we add it over USB.
Why a camera from Japan has no Hebrew
A camera made for the Japanese market usually offers only English and Japanese. Grey-import cameras sold in Israel, in a shop or online, come with exactly the same menu. The same model sold in Europe can have Hebrew in its list — but only if Canon or Sony included Hebrew for that model in the first place.
Which models can show Hebrew
Canon: PowerShot G1 X Mark II and Mark III, G3 X, G5 X, G5 X Mark II, G7 X, G7 X Mark III, G9 X, G9 X Mark II, SX60, SX70, SX540, SX620, SX700, SX710, SX720, SX730 and SX740. Sony: every model on our list, including the α7 IV, α6400 and ZV-E10. Some Canon EOS models too — send us your exact model and we’ll check for free.
The process, step by step
Send us the model, the firmware version (Menu → Setup → Firmware version) and where you bought the camera. If it’s supported, we send instructions and payment details. Connect the camera by USB to a Windows 10/11 PC and follow the steps — if you get stuck, we can help remotely for free. Then go to Menu → Setup → Language and choose Hebrew. You can switch back to English whenever you like.
Adding Hebrew vs buying another camera
Swapping a camera from Japan for one sold locally costs far more than a one-time $35 per camera. You keep the camera and lenses you already have, and the setup takes minutes. Got five cameras or more? Ask us for a volume price.

Can you add Hebrew to a Canon EOS?+
On some models, yes. Send us the exact model and firmware version and we’ll check for free — you buy credits first, then run the Windows EXE.
Will the whole menu be in Hebrew?+
Yes, wherever the camera has a Hebrew translation — menus, settings and playback screens. It’s the same Hebrew menu the model has when it’s sold in Europe.
Can I keep English as well?+
Yes. After setup, English, Hebrew and the rest of your model’s languages are all in Menu → Setup → Language, and you can switch at any time.
Does it affect my warranty?+
We only change the language menu settings. What that means for your warranty depends on the country, the seller and the manufacturer — and many grey-import cameras have no local warranty anyway. Please read our Disclaimer before you start.

Bought a Canon in Japan or from a grey importer, and Menu → Setup → Language shows only English and Japanese? Nothing is broken. The camera simply has firmware for the Japanese market. The number of menu languages depends on the model — between 25 and 32 on the cameras we support. A camera from Japan usually shows just English and Japanese. After setup, your Language menu shows the full list for your model, which you’ll find on its model page.
